Private Feldenkrais Sessions

Functional Integration® in The Studio

Have you considered how your unconscious habits of tension and anxiety contribute to your pain and limited movement? We all develop unconscious habits of strain and tension to deal with injury or trauma. These habits quickly become the default and limit our ability to live the life we want.

Luckily, new sensory-motor skills can be acquired at any age, in any condition. This practice deeply rooted in biology and neuroscience and is designed to literally rewire the way you respond to stress, the way you interact with your environment, and the way you experience your emotions and sensations.

Functional Integration sessions are gentle and comfortable. You do not need to be physically fit or aerobically active. You will be actively participating in the sessions. Sometime consciously engaging in slow, simple movements and other times simply observing your experience. Slowly, new patterns of movement will be reintroduced, never exceeding your comfort level.

At then end of each session you will learn a short somatic movement exploration to practice on your own at home. These self-care movements are the linchpin to long term pain relief and to improving your ability to manage chronic stress, relieve aches & pains, improve balance and enhance the many ways that you move through life.

What To Expect

Functional Integration sessions are gentle and comfortable. You do not need to be physically fit or aerobically active. You will be actively participating in the session, consciously engaging in slow, simple movements. Sessions are hands-on, so your practitioner will be touching you to help guide you through the movements.

You will remain fully clothed during the session.  Please wear comfortable clothing to allow free movement; clothing with some stretch is best. No shorts, skirts, or jeans, and please bring a pair of clean socks. Your session will last 50-75 minutes.

Infants & Children

Working With The Family

Private Feldenkrais for Children & Infants  sessions are comprised of two components—hands on work done directly with your child and exploring ways for you to work with your child at home.

Working with Your Child During the first 30-45 minutes of the session, hands on work will be done directly with your child. He or she will experience non-invasive and gentle movements to release any unnecessary tension in the muscles. Then your child will be slowly introduced to larger movement patterns that relate to various motor developmental stages that an infant typically learns during the first nine months of life. These assisted motions stimulate the brain’s innate ability to form neurological pathways that will help your child initiate and improve movement on his own.

Teaching and Empowering Parents: During the last 15-30 minutes of the session we will explore how you can work with your child at home. You will learn how to observe subtle changes that indicate that your child is integrating and continuing to improve on the new information learned in the session. You will learn how to mindfully touch your child and guide movements between sessions to continue his internal and external growing experiences. You will gain an understanding of how to best interact with your child in a way that will create opportunities for him to generate new movement independently and inspire learning during play at home.
