In this 1-day Awareness Through Movement® immersion we’ll explore the relationship between the ankles & knees.

The lessons in this series are basic and gentle. They are appropriate for those who want to improve their walking, support joint health, and are even appropriate for those recovering from an injury. We’ll explore how to reduce strain on the knee joint learning to move in a more integrated way. We’ll also touch on improving the flexibility of the hips for healthier knees and ankles. Finally, we’ll dive into how to reduce chronic tension that interferes with comfortable movement.

Making Friends With The Floor

Join us for day full of floor fun! In this 1-day Awareness Through Movement® immersion we’ll get to know the ground.

Making friends with the floor. When you get to know the floor, you start to realize that it’s always there to greet you. In fact, the ground responds to your every action in it’s own way. A way known as the “Ground Reaction Force.”

What is Ground Reaction Force? Newton’s 3rd Law of Motion states that “For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.” According to that, when we walk or run, every time our foot lands, there is what is called a ‘Ground Reaction Force’ produced. In this intensive, we’ll explore a variety of lessons designed to help you soften and meet the ground with grace. More than that, you’ll discover how the ground reaction force acts as a ‘mirror’ and provides you with feedback so that we can adjust what we do. And you’ll discover how to use this new information and reciprocal force to improve all that you do.
