I noticed you are starting a Feldenkrais podcast. Can you do an Awareness Through Movement class with a focus on Yoga. I would love to find out more about how to use the Feldenkrais principles with yoga.

Thanks.

to be healthy may be to be strong enough to do nothing, wise enough to be still, and quiet enough to hear your self.

Hi, it's Michael from the training. I followed your email to your blog to read the poem and then read this post. I thought your comment about autumn being the "incipient decline" was interesting. If you don't mind I'll write a few of my own thoughts here.

Buddhism teaches that all things arise and pass, and that we can stay present for both, and find some meaning in each. Watching something (or someone) beautiful passing away is very sad. You've pointed out one "positive spin" on that.. that out of a passing can arise something new. A secular Buddhist teacher named Shinzen says that people like sunsets in part because they are a beautiful form of "passing." If we can be with the passing, and find it beautiful at the same time, then we become more open to *all* passings. I have a theory that people enjoy some styles of classical music in part because those styles make beauty out of endings. For instance, in J.S. Bach, almost all of his pieces end by returning to the same key as the beginning and reaching a final consonant chord. There is a lot of pleasure in the way the music approaches the final chord, in the way each little disturbance or ripple in the music settles down until only the final simplicity remains. As I listen to Bach, I sometimes feel that I'm getting a little experience of the Void into which all things pass (and out of which they arise). I'm not sure what I mean by that. :)
